Many in the industry believe as a child when the music director used to cry, its scale sounded just like the fifth note (Pa). While another story suggests he used cry in five different notes. And then there’s the most preferred version which says as a newborn, he used to repeatedly utter the syllable Pa so legendary actor Ashok Kumar nicknamed him Pancham.
Being an extremely talented music director starting his career in 1961 with 'Chhote Nawab', the fame of Rahul Dev Burman, or fondly known as RDB among his fans has managed to withstand the passage of time well into the new millennium.
