It’s not often you get the chance to represent your country on international platforms and when you get the chance it’s indeed a moment of pride and honour. And, the celebration doubles up when you win a prestigious award. That’s how ace composer Debojyoti Mishra is on cloud nine. He has just won the Best Music Director award for ‘Bansuri’ at the 20th Imagine India Film Festival in Madrid. Debojyoti competed for this award with highly acclaimed Taras Dron for ‘Blindfold’ and Esmaeel Monsef for ‘Charcoal’. Debajyoti with his distinct international edge has always fashioned his musical orientation through diverse influences including western and eastern classical music, folk and post-modern music; thus blessing his creation with a symphonic dynamism.

Speaking about the big win, Debojyoti Mishra says it’s a big honour for all of them who were part of the film ‘Bansuri’, “We don't work for just awards but if one gets that recognition which stands for the entire team it’s always a pleasure. I am thankful to director Hari Viswanath who had previously won the best film award in Busan for ‘Radiopetti’ the first Tamil film to win at any International film festival in 2015. He wanted me to compose music for Bansuri-The Flute.
I am thankful to all my singers Papon and Anweshaa Dutta Gupta for their soulful contribution. I am also thankful to my wife Jonaki who listens to each of my songs and contributes her valued suggestions.
