Debajyoti Mishra’s wife, Jonaki Mukherjee, releases single

Music composer Debajyoti Mishra’s wife, vocalist Jonaki Mukherjee, released her latest single Sujon Aamar Ghorey Kyano Ailo Naare recently. This is her first solo release of a very popular and evergreen number. It has been recreated by Jonaki, who is a psychologist and a teacher by profession. She had her first initiation into music under the tutelage of legendary musicians like Ustad Sagiruddin Khan, Ashoktaru Bandyopadhyay, and Debabrata Biswas.
Academics being a priority, she never considered taking up music as her profession. She said, “I learned the nuances of music, learned the skills as I love to sing. But I never thought about bringing out a music video. So when director Prasun Banerjee approached me with the idea of creating a music video on this very popular number I immediately agreed to do it as this song talks about rural Bengal, humanity within the simplicity of rural folks, and of course human bonding in very simple words yet with universal appeal.”
The entire music video has been arranged by music composer Debajyoti Mishra. This is the first time that they have teamed up musically.
