City musicians come together to pay tribute to motherland through music

On the occasion of Independence Day this year, a new version of the

patriotic song

Riddhi Bandhopadhyay

Deb Chowdhury

, Tanmoy Biswas, Nibedita Das Mukherjee and elocutionist Shovansundar Bosu have lent their voices to the song. This project was conceptualised by sitarist Shouvik Mukherjee and Monalisa herself during the lockdown. Music composer Indrajit Dey has arranged the song and Swarajit Ratul on the flute and Shouvik on the sitar has supported the soulful composition.

Monalisa said, "This song is a tribute to our motherland. It's time to forget our differences and unite against this invisible enemy, the coronavirus, which has turned the world upside down. All the musicians are offering their prayer to the motherland through this soulful song."

Singer Deb Chowdhury, frontman of city-based folk band Sahajiya, who is also a part of the song, shared, “Dhono Dhanne Pushpo Bhora is such a song, which not only has its patriotic charm but also conveys the message of unity. The union and bonding with each other that will also help and motivate us to overcome this dark time. It's a tribute to our soil through music.”
