Charity event celebrates folk music

Folk strains reverberated at a charity event aimed to benefit elderly ladies in red-light areas on Saturday.
Shyam Khyapa delivered a medley of songs like Mon jokhon jagli nare and Ei deshe te ei sukh. Nikhil Biswas rendered Gram chara oi ranga matir poth, Dekhechi roop sagore and Kuler bou chilam. Golam Fakir got the guests in a trance with Aakash ta kapchilo kyan?? and Keno jiggashile Khodar kotha. Debalina Bhowmick weaved a spell with her repertoire of baul fakiri, murshidi and Lalon geeti.
Mohan Tanty and Sayantan Das's accompanied the singers on folk instruments.
