Chandrabindoo takes New Zealand’s NRBs by storm
Finally, the Bengali community in New Zealand enjoyed a rocking gig by a Bangla band from Kolkata. After a series of marathon concerts in Australia, Chandrabindoo took the non-resident Bengalis by storm recently in New Zealand atPlayhouse Theatre in
Soon after the concert, the team went to explore the country. “We went to Waitomo Glowworm Caves. That was amazing. The cave was jointly discovered by the chieftain of the Māori community and a man from the West. The community still takes care of the place. It was a thrilling experience,” said Upal, who along with other band members, went to Lake Taupo and Rotorua after that.
While keyboardist Shibobrata Biswas and drummer Rajshekhar Kundu had to come back to Kolkata soon after the concert, the rest of the members, including Upal, Anindya Chattopadhyay, Surajit Banerjee, Arup Podder and Chandril Bhattacharya are heading to the South Island. “We will go to

I, and couple of friends from Auckland, were fortunate to accompany Chandrabindoo in this trip. Thought of sharing a beautiful incident during their visit to the Waitomo Caves that has been mentioned here. Inside the long and deep cave, at a special location where the natural acoustics is fascinating, tourists are invited by the guide if they want to sing a song etc and it is, naturally, extremely rare that anybody accepts the invitation. Upal, however, immediately raised his hand and for next few minutes, mesmerised an ensemble of international tourists by singing part of ‘… vese jay adorer nouka ..” It was indeed a beautiful, surreal experience, in that sublime background and mesmerised all for some moments.Read allPost comment
