Bengali band comes up with a unique project

Bengali band

Paridhi

has thought of a unique project that includes recreating 12 retro songs. The songs, in both Bengali and

Hindi

, will be presented in a completely non-traditional way. Their project will be telecast on a popular Bengali entertainment channel.

Talking about the details, Souptik Mazumder, one of the band members, said that they have chosen only those songs that feature car in the lyrics or in the visuals. For instance, Ei Path Jodi Na Sesh Hoy, Musafir Hu Yaaro and Babu Samjho Zara have some or the other vehicle in common. The recreation part is what makes the entire project interesting. “The entire percussion part has been done by playing various car parts. We haven’t used drums or bongo to create the beats, but have played car seats and bonnets to get similar effects,” said Souptik. Besides, for melody, the band members have used human voices to sound like

instruments

. “We worked for straight 20 days, day and night, to complete the project and I don’t think a thing like this has ever been attempted in the country on such a large scale,” Souptik added.

Earlier too, Souptik Mazumder and Sayantan Sinha have composed a song based on a poem by Shankha Ghosh for Pavel’s upcoming film. The romantic poem is named Arale and this is the first such initiative in Bengali cinema where Shankha Ghosh’s poem is being used as a song. Souptik, who has worked as an assistant to the late Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee, said that about three years ago he and Sayantan experimentally composed two poems – Arale and Mukh Dheke Jay Bigyapone – by Ghosh and later, Pavel liked them and decided to use both in his film.
