Artistes from Bengal and Bangladesh shoot for music video on pandemic and Amphan-hit Bengal

Achi Banglar Pashe is a video that talks about the solidarity of

Bengal

during its troubled times. Sung by 18 artistes from Bengal, the music video talks about the difficult phase of the

lockdown

and how the

pandemic

has killed people’s spirit. In the wake of the Covid-19 crisis and cyclone Amphan, Bengal needs its people all the more to stand by it and see it come to terms with the tough time and damages done.

“This is a dream project of mine as so many eminent and celebrated artistes from India and

Bangladesh

have together sung for my composition. Though I love to compose for films but my love for independant music has given me enough courage in the past and in the present to take up these kind of projects which talk about the solidarity and unity of artistes at the time of crisis,” said Chirantan Banerjee, singer and composer of the song.

Artistes such as Timir, Sampa Kundu, Iman Chakraborty, Suresh Wadkar, Sabrina Porshi, Shahriar Rafat, Indrani Sen, Chandraboli Rudra, Chirantan Banerjee, Indrani Sen, Riddhi Bandhopadhyay, Shama Rahman, Kartik Das Baul, Alif Alaunddin, Prabuddha Raha, Aditi Gupta, Raghav Chattopadhyay, Mahiri Bose and Sasha have lend their voice to the song.

“Suvadeep is an old friend of mine. He had wanted to collaborate with me earlier for other projects too which didn’t happen then. I am happy to be a part of this one which is for a good cause. We shot for the video after the lockdown was lifted. So, I recorded in studio amid the

new normal

. Everyone was decked up in saris and kurta pajamas whereas I went ahead with denim and a shirt look. Chirantan encouraged me to shoot the video casually,” shared Iman.

The video features Rituparna Sengupta, Goutam Ghose, Guru Thankamani Kutty, Alokananda Roy, Chiranjit Chakraborty, Rimjhim Mitra, Rita Dutta Chakraborty, Suvaprasanno, Subodh Sarkar, Dr Purnendu Roy, among others. “This is the time when we must do inspiring work. So that through our work we are able to encourage people to live on and fight the pandemic without losing heart,” said Suvadeep Chakraborty, who conceptualised and wrote the lyrics of the song.
