Apparently , the maestro composed the track within two days. “The awe-inspiring number has the patriotic flavour of Jai ho and Vande Mataram and is sure to move listeners to tears. It recounts sacrifices made by the unsung heroes of the war," said a source close to Rahman.
Although the director was unwilling to talk about the project before its screening, he shared that the 30-minute venture contains exclusive footage of the 1971 War and has been supported by classified documents of Ministry of Home Affairs, India. The docu narrates the story of nine BSF soldiers who embraced death to protect the borders of the country, giving shelter to refugees on humanitarian grounds. The war footages and news clippings from the period were sourced from various places, including the BBC and The Times of India.
The film also features BS Tyagi — the then commander of the Killapara BOP (Border Out Post), who played a pivotal role in the war — and the widow of one of the martyrs who recall their experiences. It premiered at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, last month, and the screening in Kolkata is expected at the end of this month.
