Aditi Paul, of
Ang Laga De fame has recently collaborated with
Varun Grover for his directorial debut
All India Rank. The song
Noodle Sa Dil from the slice-of-life ‘dramedy’ is already receiving positive response for its peppy vibe.
An ardent fan of Grover, who is known for writing
Sacred Games,
Masaan, and
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Aditi was elated to know that she will be lending her voice to his directorial debut.
“I have always been a die-hard fan of Varun Grover’s writing, so, quite naturally, I was ecstatic when I came to know that I would be a part of his directorial debut. I must also give credit to Allen Shaw and his team for the lovely animation they have created for the track,” said the
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion singer.
Composed by Mayukh-Mainak, the song has a feel of the 90s. In fact, Aditi finds it to be a perfect tribute to Alisha Chinai, the queen of Indie-pop in the 90s.
“
All India Rank is set in the 90s and the song is an indie-pop song that blends seamlessly with that era. Initially, the makers planned to buy the original copyright of Alisha Chinai’s popular track
Made In India, but somehow it didn’t happen and they finally came up with their own song
Noodle Sa Dil. I’m so happy that I happened to sing the song,” says Paul.
Born in Kolkata, Paul has previously collaborated with Mayukh-Mainak for a few projects such as the reprised version of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s
Bol during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I’m elated with the response
Noodle Sa Dil is receiving. Also, this is the first time I have sung a peppy song in a film. People mostly associate me with the songs I have sung earlier like
Ang Laga De,
Veeron Ke Veer or
Mor Bani. But I am receiving numerous DMs, especially from the youth saying that they have loved my rendition of
Noodle Sa Dil,” adds Aditi.
Up next, she has composed a ghazal, which will release in 2024. She has also worked on several singles and soon, she will announce her web series and film projects.
