While speaking to the media an elated Rupankar said: "It's basically a collaboration to pay a tribute to the music of the golden era when melody was the queen. At first I didn’t want to introduce cover songs but later those songs were like haunting me. Then along with Sujoy and Ujjaini, I planned to form a band and perform those classic hits with a fresh arrangement. It’s a musical journey, so Sujoy decided to name the band Abhijaan."
