Yet another tragic news for
Tollywood
. Senior actor
Abhishek Chattopadhyay
breathed his last on Thursday at his
South Kolkata
residence. He was 57. According to reports, he suffered a heart attack. The popular actor who used to keep a low profile over the past few years was attending a program on Wednesday evening.
He insisted on staying at the program despite not feeling well as his health deteriorated.
Abhishek even didn’t want to go to a nearby hospital when advised and wanted to be treated at home instead. The actor was also on saline later and a doctor was called to check him up at home. But at around 1.10 am he passed away. The cause of death hasn’t yet been officially announced.
Abhishek was once a popular face in commercial Bengali cinema and worked in so many Bengali films becoming a household name. He even shared the screen with Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee in quite a few Bengali films. However, later he was embroiled in controversies one after another and gradually disappeared from Tollywood.
His tragic death has left many celebs in shock, especially those who knew him closely over the past few years. Actor

Abhishek made his film debut in 1986 in Tarun Majumdar's film 'Pothbhola' and in his very first film Abhishek's lover boy image had floored all. His last film was 'Lover' in 2021. 'Ora Charjon', 'Tumi Koto Sundar', 'Surer Akashe', 'Toofan', 'Maryada', 'Amar Prem' are some of his best film works. He also acted in some popular TV serials as well lately.
