The film tells the story of a helpless village girl who was dragged into prostitution. The plot of ‘Sitara’ is based on the backdrop of India-Bangladesh border and the illegal garments business in the area. The garments from Bangladesh illegally enter India from West Bengal border via Sealdah through many channels and distributed all over the country.
