Rakhi Special: Can beautiful women be sisters? Tolly says, NO!

The relationship between a sister and brother is sacred for me and so, in the last 25 years, I've accepted rakhis only from my sister Pallavi and three others. There are many who want to tie rakhis on my hand, but I somehow manage to steer clear, as merely tying a thread doesn't justify the lifelong commitment that a sister-brother relationship entails. Of course, there are also many who don't ever want to tie a rakhi on my hand (laughs).

RITUPARNA SENGUPTA
I was shooting in Mumbai for Love Khichdi with Randeep Hooda and we had this huge fight over a scene. Director Srinivas Bhashyam intervened and calmed us down. He, however, told Randeep and me that since we were shooting on Rakhi Purnima and fighting like cats and dogs, I should tie a rakhi on Randeep after that particular scene was canned. Randeep and I looked at each other and chorused, 'No way!'

RAJ CHAKRABARTY
Women generally like me; so, they are not so keen on tying rakhis on me. As it is, thanks to the media, I have a loverboy image. And I always admire beauty. So, how can beautiful women be my sisters? Once Srabanti and Nusrat (Jahan) said they would tie rakhis on me. I instantly told them that I would be out of town. These two breathtakingly beautiful ladies can't possibly be my sisters!

All my male friends threaten me before Rakhi, saying, 'Gintu, (my nickname), we don't even want to see your face on Rakhi!' (Laughs) During Kanamachi's shoot, Rajda (Chakrabarty) scared the hell out of me with a ghost act. I was so angry that I told him that I will tie a rakhi on him. Rajda, as wicked as he can be, said, 'No worries.Come to Halisohor, as I will be there on Rakhi Purnima.' He knew fully well that I won't travel that far.

ANINDYA CHATTOPADHYAY
I will run a hundred miles if June tries to tie a rakhi on me! Moreover, Rakhi (Gulzar) never let love blossom between me and Nandita in Shubho Mahurat and since then, I dislike rakhis (laughs). Anyway, I want to say a few lines to beautiful women who ever thought of tying a rakhi on me: Suto bandhlei bhai? Mone hocche tai? Ke je dada setai dandha, rakhir mukhe chai.

GARGI ROYCHOWDHURY
Am I crazy that I will attempt to tie rakhis on anyone from the industry? Ami sohager choke dekhi sob industry-r purushder! A man can be my friend, lover or companion, but not a brother! I have my own brother and that's enough. There are so many men who tell me, 'Gargi, I won't meet you on Rakhi Purnima' and I assure them that I buy only one rakhi on principle. So, they shouldn't worry.

SOHAM
I prefer to stay home on Rakhi Purnima, as it takes a toll on me if beautiful women offer to tie a rakhi. I remember Nusrat once said she would come over to my house to tie a rakhi and I told her that a beautiful girl like her couldn't be my sister. When I told my wife, she said I did the right thing. How can a heroine be my sister and on top of that someone as pretty as Nusrat? I think she was joking.
