Bollywood’s popular scriptwriter Shagufta Rafique is all set for her directorial debut with a Bengali film titled ‘Seven’. Touted to be a horror film, it will have Yash Dasgupta and Nusrat Jahan in the lead. The pair last shared screen space in 2016 action hit ‘One’.
So far just the lead pair has been finalised, the rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. However, the shooting will reportedly start in mid-August at Kolkata and Darjeeling.
Jeet Gannguli will compose the music of the film while
Ravi Walia
will be the DOP.
As of now, Shagufta Rafique has largely worked in Bollywood with Vishesh Films’ headed by
Mukesh Bhatt and
Mahesh Bhatt. Some of her well-accepted works as a scriptwriter and dialogue writer are films like ‘Woh Lamhe’, ‘Raaz- The Mystery Continues’, ‘Jism 2’, ‘Jannat 2’, ‘Ashique 2’ and ‘Raaz 3’.
SVF wanted to make a supernatural thriller so they reached out to Shagufta Rafique as she is a well-known face in this genre. Not just writing the story of ‘Seven’, Shagufta also wanted to direct it and the producers gave an instant nod.
