Will Sandip Ray's son follow him?
The Ray legacy is in safe hands, said Tota Roy Choudhury after coming back from Malaysia, having shot a few dramatic scenes for Sandip Rays Hitlist.
We had a blast as Babuda (Sandip Ray) is known to pamper his cast on the sets. But kudos to Souradeep, Babudas son, who went all out to help us, so that the shooting could be wrapped up smoothly.

He not only helped the technicians lift their shooting equipment, but even served water when an actor was thirsty. Ill not be surprised if he turns a director in the next four-five years, says Tota, adding, The way he is picking up the nitty-gritties of film-making is amazing. Its quite an honest journey. Tota has also been approached by Sujit Mondal for his next project.
Souradeep, on the other hand, is too shy to react to such praises. Ask him if he wants to don the directors hat much like his grandfather and father and hes quick to quip, At present I am busy with my studies. I might come into direction in future, but Ill never be in front of the camera. I went to Malaysia just to help Baba with the shooting logistics. Sandip Ray is also happy about the Malaysia leg of shooting coming to a close. That the shooting was completed within the stipulated time is a big relief. Ask him about his sons interest in film direction and he says, Its too early to comment on the same. Like me, Souradeep is interested in photography and he accompanies me to the shoots, whenever he has time.
Make hay while the son shines, eh?
