So, when will this adventure flick release? Will it be this year? Well, there are some uncertainties. The upcoming Kakababu film was initially scheduled for Puja release this year. But the scenario has changed slightly. There’s every possibility the film will not release in 2019. We hear there were some administrative and logistic obstacles for the shoot to start in Kenya, that’s why a Puja release is unlikely. So SVF decided to start shooting for Gumnaami’ which had its mahurat recently.

There’s still a possibility of a December release of ‘Kakababur Protyaborton’ but SVF’s another big budget film, Sandip Ray directed ‘

Professor Shonku O El Dorado

’, is set to hit the theatres during Christmas. So, it will be interesting to see whether the makers release both the films in December.

Srijit Mukherji was recently Nairobi for the recce of the Kakababu film. While his last film ‘Yeti Obhijaan’ didn’t enjoy a great audience response, will Srijit opt for a cautious approach for his next ‘Kakababur Protyaborton’?

“See, many said ‘Yeti Obhijaan’ was my worst made movie, and yes, I have to admit that despite the box office success. I think the main problem was I loyally reproduced the novel as Sunil Gangopadhyay wrote, which in turn made some of the scenes a bit unrealistic. This time, I have decided to adapt Kakababu to 2019, and explore contemporary issues to give more of a cinematic adaptation, than a completely faithful literary reproduction,” explained the ‘Vinci Da’ director.
