Will Ankush’s debut web series ‘Shikarpur’ release in theatres as a feature film?

Ankush Hazra, known for his charismatic and entertaining on-screen appearances, impressed all in his debut web series, ‘Shikarpur,’ which premiered on January 6. The series, spanning nine episodes, intricately narrated a tale of mystery and suspense set in the quaint locality of Shikarpur in North Bengal. Ankush played the role of a local detective, captivating audiences with his natural acting and contributing to the immense popularity of the show. Now, the enthralling series is reportedly eyeing a theatrical release as a feature film, with a special screening having already been held on October 12.

‘Shikarpur’ dives deep into an intense story that unravels in a locale gripped by fear and supernatural mysteries. A looming ghost casts a shadow of terror across the small town, claiming victims one by one, each bearing the surname Ghosh. The superstitious locals attribute these sinister occurrences to the Pichla Bhut – believed to be interwoven with the myths of Debi Choudhurani. A young, inquisitive detective named Keshto, portrayed by Ankush Hazra, decides to intervene and solve the mystery.


Koushik Ganguly, as Dindayal Biswas, plays Keshto's mentor in the series, steering him through the convoluted mystery. As the narrative evolves, Keshto takes shelter at Dindayal’s house, and while solving the case, falls in love with Dindayal’s daughter, Chumki, played by Sandipta Sen.

Ankush, in his sling bags, check shirt, and black sunglasses, became a crowd favorite, especially while roaming around the town on a bicycle, symbolizing his earthy and relatable character. Debasish Mondal, stepping into the role of Biman, a local police officer, and Sayan Ghosh, playing a magician, also delivered commendable performances, seamlessly blending into the mystic world of ‘Shikarpur’.

As the suspenseful series transfigures into a filmy experience, anticipation brews among the audience, curious to witness how the beloved characters translate onto the big screen. Ankush has also left his fans wondering about what will happen on October 14 at 5 PM, via his social media handles.
