Why did Dev's mother give him nothing for his birthday?

It's Dev's birthday today. Yes, you got that right. Tollywood superstar Dev's birthday coincides with the merriest day of the year ��� Christmas.
That, definitely adds to his fans' merryness. But our star today is making merry no less, with his closest friends ��� his family. "I am spending the entire day with my father and sister. Ma couldn't come down today, but she will be here day after tomorrow.There will be some more celebrations then," the mama's boy told us.
Last night, there was a small party on the occassion of his birthday. But it is today's lunch, prepared by his dad, who happens to be an amazing cook, that is the gift that has made him the happiest. The elaborate lunch comprised daal, alu posto, begun bhaja, pomphret bhaja (his fav) , fulkopir torkari, bhindi bhaja, mangsho, chingri maach and paayesh. "And I ate all of them. But Ma didn't send me anything. Can you believe that?" Dev said in mock anger. "As soon as baba and my sister reached, I asked them, what ma had sent for me. When they surrendered, I simply called her up and asked her how could she not send me a birthday gift. she said, 'I have made you a man of worth. Abar ki gift chai," Dev said, breaking into a proud smile, but added, "I will definitely extort something from her when she comes down. How can I not?" Even his sister hasn't gifted him anything yet, but Dev is in no mood to let it go. "Aami chhere debo naki?," he asked rhetorically!
Dev's phone hasn't stopped ringing from last night and the cakes and the bouquets from fans, fan clubs and well-wishers have left the family members with no place to move. "But one of the gifts from a fan-club left me speechless. They curated a video, chronicling my career as an actor from day one till today. It has moments and pictures that I had no idea existed. These are the stuff that make me feel the unconditional love I have been blessed with.
Is there a similarity between Jesus Christ and Dev, we ask him. "We both believe in love," he winks.
