When Mir took 'Dramebaaz' tag a bit too seriously
The actor-anchor will be seen in the role of an ex-communist in the social satire, BudhhiGB.
Stand-up comedian, actor, anchor, RJ Mir has dabbled with many roles. And now, hell be seen in a whole new avatar. In a first, he is venturing into theatre and will be part of Sourav Palodhis social satire BudhhiGB. Having been part of the entertainment industry for 20 years, I have met several people for several reasons.

Often many have called me natuke. This time around, Ive taken the adjective rather seriously, says Mir with effortless humour. Sourav, a popular face on Mirakkel, is directing the play with his group, Ichhemoto. Its about how the so-called intellectuals react to an incident woven into the plot. While the umpteen candle marches give the candle industry a much-desired boost, nothing concrete comes out of it, says Sourav, who is co-directing the play with Debashis Ghosh Dastidar. The play has been written by both Sourav and Anurag Roy Chowdhury.
In the play, Mir will be seen donning the role of an ex-communist, all of 50, who is defeated by the changed time and changed agenda. Thus, Mir has to look and act at least 10 years older than himself. Its not the first time that such an offer has come my way, but I gave my go-ahead as I found the subject and the character very interesting, says Mir.
BudhhiGB revolves around two characters an ex-communist and his son Tublu. Vicky will get under the skin of the latter. That apart, Palash Adhikari and Sourav will be seen playing the other important roles. If all goes well, Manashi Sinha might be roped in to play Mirs wife. People have seen Mir in comic roles, but only a few know how good he is in serious roles. For me, directing Mirda is like a dream come true, says Sourav about casting Mir. The actor, on his part, says working with young talents is always a great feeling. I met Sourav on Mirakkel and immediately knew that he would go a long way. But its not that Ill be performing every day; taking up several drama assignments after this is also not on the cards. I found the play interesting and thought of giving it a try. Mir is set to make his stage debut on March 19 at the Academy of Fine Arts. Heres hoping for a Miracle!
