When I act in someone else’s film, the director in me takes a backseat: Arindam Sil
After Debaloy Bhattacharya’s Bidai Byomkesh (2018), Arindam Sil will be donning the actor’s hat again in Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s film Lost which starts Yami Gautam, Rahul Khanna, Pankaj Kapur, and others in the lead. Though the director plays a cameo in each of the films that he directs, now he hardly acts in other director’s projects. So, what made him give his nod to Aniruddha, we asked him.

“Tony (Aniruddha) is a dear friend of mine. When he approached me for a role in this film, I didn’t think twice before giving my nod. I acted in Buno Haansh and Antaheen too and I feel he is a sensitive director. I already shot with Rahul Khanna and on August 19, I will be shooting with Yami Gautam. In fact, I cancelled my shooting schedule for Khela Jawkhon on August 19 just so I can shoot for Tony’s film. I play Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) in this film and the character has a lot of shades,” shared Arindam.
Speaking of how it feels to act after so many years, Arindam said, “Well, I started my career as an actor so that will always be my first love. When I am acting in someone else's project, I am just an actor. My filmmaker instinct takes a backseat then. I listen to my director’s advice and try to follow it. That apart, I rehearse before a shot just like I used to do years back. In fact, I felt nice to see that Rahul (Khanna) believes in rehearsing for a scene before the final shot.”
Arindam will start shooting for Khela Jawkhon from Tuesday.
