Rishav Basu and
Bibriti Chatterjee, Tollywood’s fresh pair, are ready to enthrall the cine lovers in
Tathagata Mukherjee’s next directorial ‘Votvoti’. The first-look teaser of the film will be released on January 01.
Rishav will play a young man Votvoti who lives in a slum and collects coin thrown into the river Ganges for living. Votvoti believes there’s a mermaid living in the river, however nobody believes him.
Bibriti who played an important role in Arindam Sil’s ‘Byomkesh Gowtro’ last year will be seen as the mermaid.
“After audition I bagged this role and I am happy to play the lead. I play Ariel, a mermaid and Bhootbooti (Rishab) is in love with her. The film is a love story between fire and water. I watched Tathagata da’s Watterbotle and liked it. What I loved about him is that he is very clear about what he wants from his cast. The way he narrates the story is amazing. I could literally see Ariel in front of my eyes. We all have grown up reading stories on mermaid and when you actually get a chance to play one it seems surreal,” said Bibriti who is thrilled to play such a unique character.
Rishav has a rich theatre background and forayed into films with a horror thriller ‘Kuasha Jakhon’ last year. Tathagata plans to start shooting for his new film from August 27. Produced by Pramod Films and PSS Entertainments ‘Votvoti’ has been extensively shot in and around Bengal.
The fantasy drama also stars
Mamata Shankar,
Rajatava Dutta, Debleena Dutt Mukherjee, Lama Halder and others. The story has been penned by the director while music of the film is being composed by Mayookh Bhaumik.
