We lost a master today: Prosenjit Chatterjee
Buddhadeb Dasgupta was revered worldwide. He was not just a Bengali filmmaker; he represented Indian films on a global platform; he represented world cinema.
I was fortunate to have worked with him in two films – Swapner Din (Chased by Dreams) in 2004 and Ami, Yasin Ar Amar Madhubala (The Voyeurs) in 2007. They were like blessings for me. The experience I gained by working with him will last forever.

He believed in a unique style of filmmaking. It has always been very different and that made him a bright star in world cinema. When I went to global festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, with him, I saw his aura on global platforms, the adulation he received there.
I feel so proud of him for his brilliant films. In fact, I grew up watching his films. He was a teacher and above everything else, a wonderful human being.
Today, when he is gone, it feels so empty. We lost a master today. But he will live with us through his work. May his soul rest in peace.
