Watched many films in Globe Cinema; heartbroken that it shut down: Akshay Kumar in Kolkata

Nomaskar, Kolkata. Ami tomake bhalobashi,” said Akshay Kumar, who was in Kolkata on Monday for the promotion of his upcoming film. He was accompanied by Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth, Deepika Khanna and director Anand L Rai.
At the press conference, which was organised at a city multiplex inside a mall, Akshay expressed his love for the City of Joy. He said, “I have been to this city several times for work. But not many people would know that I used to work in Globe Cinema near New Market for two years (1984-1985). So, Kolkata will always be special to me. I also made a very dear friend, Anil Punjabi, back then, but we are not in touch now.” Akshay said that he was “heartbroken” when he found out that the iconic single-screen theatre had shut down. “I am very sad since I got to know from my chauffeur here today that Globe Cinema does not exist anymore. I am heartbroken… I watched so many films there.”

Talking about his fitness mantra, the actor said being happy and disciplined is the key to his good health and fitness levels. “Stay happy and enjoy what you do. Read a lot of jokes that make you laugh,” said the actor while confessing that he loves to eat. “During the shoot, our main point of discussion would be about what to eat for lunch today as we all are foodies,” said Akshay.

The actor then spoke about the deep bond that he shares with his younger sister Alka. “My sister and I live in the same apartment and our bond is very strong. I was four years old when she was born and I remember my parents telling me – ‘A devi has come to our house.’ I also share a beautiful bond with my reel sisters, who are here with me today. All of them are freshers, and I learnt what simplicity is from them. We had a blast while shooting,” said Akshay.
Talking about his film, Akshay said, “I always believe that women are superior to us and our film too talks about that. It is a celebration of life in a way and I am sure the audience will enjoy it.”
