Aritra Sen's film 'Shohorer Ushnotomo Dine', starring Vikram Chatterjee and Solanki Roy in the lead, is a tale of love and self-discovery set in Kolkata. The movie revolves around Ritoban and Anindita, two individuals from Kolkata who find a second chance at love after years apart. Vikram portrays Ritoban in the film, which was finally released in theatres on June 30 after a long delay.
When asked about his connection to Kolkata, Vikram expresses his deep affection for the city. He compares Kolkata to his mother, emphasizing the love and knowledge he has gained from the place. While the actor has experienced moments of frustration and contemplated leaving, he recognizes that Kolkata is his home and holds a special place in his heart.
Vikram and Solanki have been friends for eight years and have previously worked together in the hit serial Ichhe Nodi. They eagerly awaited the opportunity to be cast in a love story, which came true with 'Shohorer Ushnotomo Dine.' They are excited about the film and consider it to be a significant project for both of them, allowing them to revive their on-screen chemistry.
Since the city Kolkata itself becomes a character in the romantic drama the popular actor also reflects on the transition from Calcutta to Kolkata and expresses his preference for the city's colonial architecture over its bustling atmosphere. He also points out the change in romantic activities, with couples now frequenting malls instead of places like Rabindra Sarobar or Prinsep Ghat. Vikram shared a cute anecdote from his school days when he would cycle through Jadavpur's lanes in the hopes of running into his crush who lived in the same neighborhood. These nostalgic moments have heightened our anticipation for ‘Shohorer Ushnotomo Dine’.
Up next for Vikram is the much-awaited movie ‘Pariah’, directed by Tathagata Mukherjee. The film is about saving street dogs. He will also start shooting for Arindam Bhattacharya’s ‘Durgapur Junction which also stars Swastika Mukherjee in the lead. The actor has already left his mark with successful OTT series like Tansener Tanpura’, ‘Rudrabinar Obhishaap’ and ‘Roktokorobi’.
