She is a well-known name down south. And Flora Saini hopes, with Srijit Mukherjis Begum Jaan, she will be able to make her mark in Bollywood too. Your work will get you through. It might sound idiomatic but thats certainly true. My role in Dhanak eventually got its worth. Director Srijit Mukherji called me for an audition and I landed a role in this multi-starrer, says the actress.
Done with the shoot, Flora is also ecstatic to have revisited Kolkata after long. Turns out, her father, who is in the army, was once posted in Fort William, in Kolkata. However, she never got a chance to explore the city. This time, she fulfilled that wish. Talking about sharing the screen with Vidya Balan, admiration drips from her voice. Vidya maam is a beautiful soul. She used to call me Madhuri Dixit, as she thought I resemble her. Of course, that was a huge compliment for me. The contradiction between her real self and her rough character sometimes got to her. One day, she had to slap one of the other actresses and she broke down, saying, I cant do this! Everytime she had to enact a tough scene with us, she would come and apologise later with a hug! And she would keep giving us little gifts all the time. She would say, The shoot is tough. The weathers erratic. Please, be happy. And what about the captain of the ship, Srijit? Oh, Srijit sir is a tough taskmaster, but post-work, he would spoil us. In Bolpur, after the shoot we were exploring one day and there was this small handicraft shop. He suddenly came and told us, Buy whatever you want. Its all on me. Just like that, reveals Flora.
