Dipankar Dey's health condition is stable now and he has been moved out of the critical care unit of a private hospital where he was admitted with serious breathing problems.

The veteran actor is out of danger now and doctors, after conducting some tests decided to take him off the oxygen mask as his breathing improved. He will be under observation for the next 48 hours.

A day after registering his marriage to long-time live-in partner Dolon Roy, Dipankar was hospitalised on Friday evening.

A favourite of renowned directors like Mrinal Sen, Rituparno Ghosh, Aparna Sen and Buddhadeb Dasgupta, the veteran actor won the National Film Awards for Best Supporting actor in 1986 for his stellar performance in Aparna Sen-directed 'Parama'.
