‘Uronchondi’ raises questions against the oppression of women in society

’, touted to be the first road movie in

Bengali

cinema, narrates the story of different people embarking on a journey together. The plot follows three female protagonists from three different generations - Chitra Sen, Sudiptaa Chakraborty and newcomer Rajnandini Paul.

There are so many instances in our society in which, women from a younger age group confront oppression, torment and debauchery. The characters Chitra Sen, Sudiptaa and Rajnandini are playing the roles of such women who eventually take a stand after facing years of abuse and repression. Veteran actor Chitra Sen and Sudipta Chakraborty prove their mettle as actors once again, in the trailer itself. Debutant Rajnandini, daughter of actress Indrani Dutta, seems promising. Another newcomer Amartya Ray looks convincing as the young truck driver who brings fresh air to the devastated lives of these oppressed women.

‘Uronchondi’ is Abhishek Saha’s first film as a director and slated for a release on August 3.
