Well, it's not her
cat per se, but Cosmos, the cat that was killed, was Kia’s friend in her neighbourhood. Played by young actress Ritwika Pal, Kia is a 15-year-old math-loving special girl, who embarks on a journey to find the murderer. This is the story of Sudipto Roy’s Kia and Cosmos in a nutshell. Now, when the film is about to release by the end of this month, musician Upal Sengupta decided to help Kia in her journey.
“We had limited budget in the beginning and decided to go for crowdfunding. Upalda hosted an origami workshop for that endeavour,” said Sudipto, adding, “Now, he came up with this brilliant idea of asking people to draw a cat for Kia. This has become a fun exercise, as celebrities like Rahul, Lagnajita Chakraborty, Somlata Acharya, Gabu and several others started painting. Soon, we will publish the paintings on our social media page.”
Upal, on the other hand, is on a drawing spree. The painter that he is, Upal has already drafted a few cats for Kia and asked his friends, including fellow musicians, actors and actresses, to paint. “I have a bunch of very enthusiastic friends and when I asked them to draw cats, almost all of them sent one. It is becoming a fun exercise now. On a serious note, I really like such initiatives by youngsters. Sudipto worked hard making a film and I extended my support,” the musician told us.
Meanwhile, Sudipto confirmed that Upal and Ritwika will soon go live on
Facebook, with the former teaching the actress origami. “That will be fun too,” the director signed off.
