In 1984, these two roles were supremely enacted by Victor Banerjee and Soumitra Chatterjee respectively in Satyajit Ray’s screen adaptation of the same novel. According to reports, Tuhina has been cast as Bimala which was played by Swatilekha Sengupta in the Ray classic.
