Nusrat Jahan was supposed to play the female lead in
Tridib Raman’s directorial debut ‘Uraan’ but then the actress had to back away from the film due to political commitments as a TMC candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Srabanti Chatterjee has been roped in to play the central character of Poulami and Tridib feels the change in cast won’t affect the film in any way.
“It’s the story that’s the main attraction. I didn’t develop it keeping in mind any particular actor. I just needed someone who would be able to embody the role. And I am so happy that Srabanti is playing the role. She is a great actor,” said the director.
Srabanti whose latest release ‘Googly’ is winning hearts is also excited to be a part of ‘Uraan’: “It’s a woman-centric film and I just love my character Poulami Banerjee. She is a fighter like every woman. She belongs to a needy family and this film narrates her journey.”
Apart from Srabanti Chatterjee playing the female lead, the film also stars Shaheb Bhattacharjee,
Subrat Dutta, Sumanta Mukherjee and Anuradha Roy in pivotal roles.
