Tota Roy Choudhury is making his debut in Kannada film industry with
Shashikanth Gatti’s ‘Ranchi’. The cast also includes popular actors from down south

, Sindhu Murthy and Sanjana Prakash. The film is based on late Ranchi SSP Pravin Kumar.
Ever since the shoot began, Tota, who plays the late SSP here, kept his fans posted with a series of videos and pictures from the set and also how he was prepping for this action thriller. And now, the versatile actor is super excited to share the first-look poster from ‘Ranchi’.
He wrote: “Truly happy to share the first look of my first Kannada movie- 'Ranchi' with the very talented Kannada star @Prabhu_Mundkur Guess where am I in the poster? Hint: it's all in the eye! #ranchithefilm.”
The film sees a young south Indian film-maker one day getting a call from Ranchi to make a documentary film but when he reaches Ranchi, he suddenly discovers being trapped by a mafia syndicate. He somehow escapes and contacts the local police chief who starts an investigation. What happens next is a nail-biting cat-and-mouse game. This is loosely the plot of Shashikanth Gatti’s Ranchi.
What’s interesting is it’s a true story which actually happened with the director himself back in 2009 in Ranchi.
