Tota talks about his Kannada debut

Tota Roy Choudhury is all geared up for his debut in Kannada film industry with Shashikanth Gatti’s ‘Ranchi’. The cast also includes popular actors from down south Prabhu Mundur, Sindhu Murthy and Sanjana Prakash. The film is based on late Ranchi SSP Pravin Kumar.

Ever since the shoot began, Tota, who plays the late SSP here, kept his fans posted with a series of videos and pictures from the set and also how he was prepping for this action thriller.

Speaking about the film an excited Tota gave a sneak peek into the film’s plot. "Destiny is the only way I can explain my being part of the cast. The director, Shashikant Gatti, was making this film based on an incident that he faced 10 years ago. He was a documentary filmmaker then. There was a criminal gang operating out of Ranchi, who would lure documentary filmmakers from the southern states with the promise of a lucrative budget. They posed as government servants from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and asked the filmmakers to carry 10% of the budget as 'caution money' and then robbed them of their cash, equipment and valuables once they were in Ranchi, often leaving the victims in their undergarments on the highway. Shashikant, when contacted by the gang, got in touch with the then-senior superintendent of police of Ranchi, the late Praveen Kumar, who obliterated the ring and arrested the culprits," said Tota.
