If Subhashree Ganguly had her way, she would be wearing a Benarasi on every special occasion. ‘I’m a fan of the intricate weaving done for these saris. My favourite Benarasi has always been the one made with pure silk (

katan

) in rich colours,” says the actress.

Tnusree Chakraborty is fond of silk, tissue and butidar Benarasis because of their rich and vibrant looks. “The fall of these materials is spectacular. I also like Benarasis with rich zari borders as those give a heavy, festive look,” says the actress.

Puja Banerjee thinks there doesn’t exist a better Diwali outfit than a rich age-old traditional Benarasi in bright colours, especially red. “I am having my formal marriage this November for which I plan to wear a red Benarasi. I like georgette Benarasis too, as it makes one look toned. While I prefer cotton Benarasis in the morning, for evening outings, it has to be silk.”

For actress Ushasi Ray, any outfit made from the Benarasi fabric – be it a salwar-kameez or a lehenga – is her favourite. She says, “The entire look gets an upgrade when one chooses to wear a Benarasi or a dress made from this
material. This Diwali I am planning to wear a Benarasi lehenga.”
