Tnusree Chakraborty

met them with lozenges and a warm hug, children of inmates (below six) made her listen to more nursery rhymes that they have learnt over the months. The actress was there on Saturday to screen her film,

Aleya

, in which she packs a punch as a feisty cop.

Directed by top cop Humayun Kabir, the screening was part of the ongoing winter carnival at correctional homes in Bengal. Tnusree was accompanied by Abhishek Dutta, in charge of a fashion unit in Presidency Correctional Home and Arun Kumar Gupta, DJ & IJ of Correctional Services, West Bengal, who took her through the home and got her introduced to the various facilities for the inmates. State correctional administration minister Ujjal Biswas, who graced the inaugural function, said how proud he was of the services rendered by the inmates. “The biscuits and mustard oil made by the inmates are of such great quality that people keep asking for them,” he said, as the inmates made themselves comfortable on the mattresses spread across the recreation room to watch the movie.

“I wanted to come here since we made this film. Finally, it happened. I wish everyone well and hope they do great when they go out and get back to their normal lives,” Tnusree said. Tnusree visited the kitchen, the handicrafts room and was elated to meet the inmates practising dance. “They take part in cultural programmes and happen to be very talented,” she gushed. The officials not only treated the guests with tea and biscuits made by the inmates, Tnusree was gifted a packet of goodies to take home. “If I can be of any help to this home, please let me know,” said the actress before leaving, hiding her tears behind a pretty smile. The visit was short, but the memories were already made.
