Title change for Goutam Ghose’s film
In August this year, Goutam Ghose began shooting his Hindi film in remote Jharkhand. The Hindi venture, starring Adil Hussain, Neeraj Kabi and Tillotama Shome, was tentatively titled One Day in the Rain and came 12 years after making Yatra with Rekha and Nana Patekar. The film, which is now complete, and has got a U certificate from Central Board of Film certification, goes by a new title — Rahgir.
Talking about this change in title, Ghose said, “The film is a cinematic movement of two characters in search of humanity.

Every day, when I open the newspapers, I’m shocked to learn about children killing their parents, throwing them out of home... In this film, two wayfarers — a man and a woman — save the life of an old couple. Rahgir is an apt word for those travelling; it’s been used metaphorically, as our entire life is a journey.” While Adil and Tillotama play the wayfarers, Neeraj will be seen as a cart driver. “The cart wheel is incongruous. There’s a thrill element attached to it. I won’t divulge the details, but it will be an experience for sure. If the experience is good, bad or ugly comes much later, but it’s an experience nonetheless,” he said.
Adil had earlier told us about working with Ghose. “It’s a privilege to work with Goutam Ghose. He is a master filmmaker and I have adored his works even as a teenager. He is completely clear in his head about what he wants; that’s also because he is such a fine cinematographer himself,” he had said. Ghose’s Hindi features have always been of national interest. Earlier, his Paar (1985), Patang (1993) and Gudia (1996) have been adjudged as Best Feature Films in Hindi at National Film Awards.
