Three Bangladeshi feature films ‘Hasina, A daughter’s Tale’, ‘Sincerely Yours, Dhaka’ and ‘
Swatta
’ will be screened at the inaugural Global Cinema Festival Siliguri which started on August 21 and will end on August 25.
The Film Federation of India, in association with West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited, has taken the initiative to organize the festival for the first time. It’s screening 36 feature films and 24 short films, both National and international categories, at three auditoriums Dinabandhu Mancha, Rabindra Bhavan (Saktigarh) and New Cinema.
The first film ‘
Hasina – A Daughter’s Tale
’ is a documentary on Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
. The docudrama, directed by Piplu Khan, is a soul-stirring biopic that explores a a daughter’s perspective and how Bangladesh’s darkest hours on August 15, 1975 had changed her life forever.
The second one ‘Iti, Tomari Dhaka’ (Sincerely, Your Dhaka), is an anthology film.
The third film ‘Swatta’, starring popular Bangladeshi actor Shakib Khan and
Paoli Dam, has been directed by Hashibur Reza Kallol.
