for his film ‘
Binisutoy
’ (Without Strings).
“The memorabilia that reached today from 40th Hawaii International Film Festival (for Binisutoy/Without Strings) is so reminiscent of the year of misses! It’s always a privilege to present your film abroad, with some nervous tension, excitement and generally, the hope for everything to turn out perfect. And if there are blasts of emotion and passion, small precious moments are just as unforgettable. Finally, when your film starts, and you settle down on a seat mostly among strangers, a journey of discovery begins that would eventually change your work altogether right before your own eyes! That’s the magic of it!” (sic) Atanu took to his Facebook handle to share this exciting piece of news.
In ‘Binisutoy’, Kajal Sarkar (
Ritwick Chakraborty) and Sraboni Barua (
Jaya Ahsan) are two strangers who meet at the audition of a reality game show, and thereafter through some strange turns of events, the journey of these two people grow into an engaging drama of intrigue, surprise and enlightenment.
The film’s story penned by Atanu himself sheds light on the eternal quest for an alternative lifestyle. What’s more interesting apart from the unusual pair of Ritwick and Jaya is that we would get to see Jaya Ahsan’s singing talent as well in the film. Besides Jaya Ahsan and Riiwick, the film has an ensemble cast including
Kaushik Sen,
Chandrayee Ghosh,
Kheya Chattopadhyay and others in important roles.
