Tollywood is thriving on nostalgia amidst the nationwide lockdown and here’s a happy throwback from the past as
Aparna Sen directed ‘Iti Mrinalini’ completes 9 years today.
A nostalgic filmmaker
Ranjan Ghosh who had made his debut as a scriptwriter with this film shared some behind the scene pictures from the sets of ‘Iti Mrinalini’ on his Facebook handle and wrote: “9 years of #ItiMrinalini today.
#AparnaSen’s (almost) mainstream outing, and my debut as a screenwriter. A great learning experience co-authoring the story and screenplay and assisting the master right after my film school. Tremendous memories to last an entire lifetime.”
The film revolves around Mrinalini (Aparna Sen), an aging actress, who sits down to write a suicide note. She starts picking up small items of memorabilia and then discards them into the bin. The narrative has been structured through this letter written and discarded again and again as Mrinalini recalls her past and travels between her memories.
With an ensemble cast of Aparna Sen herself,
Konkona Sen Sharma,
Rajat Kapoor,
Koushik Sen,
Priyanshu Chatterjee and Saheb Bhattacharya among others, this film earned critical acclaim for the execution of a beautiful script.
