Tollywood is thriving on nostalgia amidst the nationwide lockdown and here’s a throwback from last year when fans got to see the first look of
Parambrata Chattopadhyay as the iconic sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi.
We have already seen him as a tech-savvy Feluda and now Parambrata Chatterjee had a bigger challenge in hand last year – playing Byomkesh in Sayantan Ghosal’s ‘Satyanweshi Byomkesh’ which released during 2019 Puja.
The detective thriller had made the movie lovers buzzing ever since it was announced and on this date last year a brand new poster from the film was dropped online. Featuring Parambrata as the ever charming Byomkesh and Rudranil as Ajit, the poster gave every reason to eagerly wait for the film to hit the theatres.
When asked why Parambrata was chosen to play Byomkesh instead of a new face,
Anjan Dutt had earlier told us the exact reason behind this casting decision.
“When I first cast Abir, he was taken into consideration as a fresh face because then a Byomkesh film was being made after long since
Satyajit Ray’s Chiriyakhana. Since then there have been many successful Byomkesh films. Abir, Jisshu, Anirban and Gaurav, all have been quite popular in their own enactments. Therefore, we did not go for a fresh face, instead decided on casting someone who wouldn’t be thought as Byomkesh normally,” explained Anjan who is the creative supervisor and screenplay writer of the film produced by Greentouch Entertainment.
