Sreelekha Mitra, an animal lover and activist, is heartbroken at the news of the pregnant elephant’s death in Kerala. “We murdered her. As humans get punished for murdering someone, they should be punished for murdering animals too. The poor elephant should get justice. I condemn this cruelty,” said the actress.
The actress was in for another shock when she realised her name was not there in Soukarya Ghosal’s films, Rainbow Jelly and Pendulum, streaming on one of the OTT platforms.
She wrote on social media: Rainbow jelly gave me a new identity, ‘Poripishi’, which eventually became my synonym thanx to the producer director for that. Not delving into the details of what I had done for this film... here is a fact loud n clear. My name ‘Sreelekha Mitra is not given on the app as maybe I am not considered good enuf I believe. This was brought to my notice by director Aditya vikram Sengupta and later by many others. Could anyone .. someone care to explain? (sic)
When asked, Sreelekha said, “I don’t expect anything from anyone in life. But I am part of these two films and I feel my name should have been there. But that’s life, I guess. The director is aware of what I did for these two films and in return, I got this. Yesterday was a bad day and I slept for barely three hours as both the incidents made me numb.”
