The news of Anupam Roy and his wife Piya Mukherjee’s separation in 2021 raised quite a few eyebrows. It also left Anupam’s fans shocked and guessing the reason behind this surprising decision. The couple who put an end to their marriage of six years took to social media to post a statement citing personal differences for parting ways. “We, Anupam and Piya, have mutually decided to conclude our marital relationship and pursue our own independent trajectories as friends. “Our journey together has been a beautiful one, full of treasured experiences and happy memories. However, due to personal differences we think it is best to part ways as husband and wife. We continue to be the closest of friends that we have always been and remain deeply invested in each others’ well-being. We are grateful to all friends, family, and well-wishers who have supported us at each step so far. We request for your continued empathy and understanding to help us make this transition with privacy and dignity,” Anupam Roy's statement on Twitter read.

They never made it official but Raj and Mimi's relationship remained an open secret in the industry. The noted director and charming actress were going smooth and just when everybody was waiting to hear 'I do', the breakup news came as a shocker. Despite keeping their relationship under wraps, the pair didn't hesitate to declare ‘I quit’ publicly.
