Pradipta Bhattacharya’s upcoming ‘
Rajlokhi O Srikanta
’ is a modern-day take on some handpicked portions of
Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay
’s iconic 1917 novel Srikanta.
In this film,
Ritwick Chakraborty plays Srikanta while Bangladeshi actress Jyotika will be seen as Rajlokhi. Rahul Banerjee and
Aparajita Ghosh Das also play pivotal roles.
The recently released trailer sheds some light on the storyline but there are so many original inputs from the director who loves to infuse folk elements in his film. Here also you can see the influences.
At the same time, Rajlokhi and Srikanta are about to settle as a happy couple, yet the background score and certain hints of a parallel story looks like posing an impending danger. You can also see Rajlokhi as courtesan Pyaari while Rahul Banerjee is introduced as a client Hukumchand in a sequence.
The trailer gives you so many things to anticipate. Moreover, you can find some signature flavours of Pradipta Bhattacharya which were seen in his previous National Award winning film ‘
Bakita Byaktigato
’ (2013), raising the expectation bar.
‘Rajlokhi O Srikanta’ is slated for a release on September 20.
