The poster of Tathagata’s next released

The official poster of Tathagata Mukherjee’s second film, Bhotbhoti, was released last Friday at a city hotel. The film, which stars include Dipankar

, Mamata Shankar, Debolina Dutta, Monu Mukherjee and Sanjib Sarkar,among others, is introducing a fresh screen pair — Rishav Basu and Bibriti Chatterjee.

The film is a modern-day romantic

fairy tale

involving a boy, Bhotbhoti, and a mermaid. Bhotbhoti, who lives in a slum near the Ganges and collects coins thrown in the river and works as an assistant at a burning ghat, meets a mermaid (played by Bibriti) and falls in love with her.

Speaking about the film, Rishav said, “My journey is just like a fairy tale. I have waited two years, refusing quite a few offers, and ultimately landed this role. Fairy tales are happening all around us. You just need to believe in them.”

Veteran actor Dipankar Dey said, “I am playing Saroj Kumar Majumdar, a person who used to dream too, but with the passage of time, that part of him got buried deep inside.”

Ekta Ganguly, who is starring in the film in a special role, said, “The character I am portraying is really special. I won’t reveal anything more about it now and ruin the mystery. But all I can say is that it’s somewhere between fantasy and reality.”

Director Tathagata Mukherjee and his wife and actress, Debolina Dutt Mukherjee, were also present at the poster launch. The shooting of the film is scheduled to begin from August 27 at different locations in Puruluia, Jhargram and Bolepur.
