Even as the mystery deepens over five editions of Byomkesh Bakshi in the pipeline, actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty remains unfazed when he says it will only further put a famous sleuth like Feluda under his magnifying glass

On screen, that is. With as many as five films being planned on Bengal���������������������������s original sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi, Feluda seems to have competition. Or does he? Actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty ��������������������������� the Feluda that Gen Y has grown up watching ��������������������������� feels the new-found interest in Byomkesh will not convert Feluda loyalists.

As a reader, then, would he rather pick the dhuti-panjabi clad satyanweshi Byomkesh or the Charminar-smoking Felu Mitter? ���������������������������Feluda, for sure. Ami ajker lok and Feluda is a contemporary character. As opposed to him, Byomkesh Bakshi is a period detective,��������������������������� replies the actor, who also took the supersleuth to the stage last year. But given the setting of the Byomkesh cases ��������������������������� early 20th century Kolkata ��������������������������� how much of it can the plex-going audience identify with?
