The jodi of Paoli and
Adil Hussain, who are winning hearts as a frequent flier and a visa officer in Pratim D Gupta’s Ahare Mon, will soon be back in Maati. Directed by
Leena Gangopadhyay and
Saibal Banerjee, this film is about a woman, Meghla (Paoli), who figures out that her grandmother was killed in her ancestral home in East Pakistan. The heinous murder was committed by a trusted retainer of the family. Years later, Meghla travels to Dhaka to trace her roots and faces the murderer’s family who now occupy her house.
Maati
not only traces Meghla’s journey, it deals with issues of migration and human bonding. Even though the film was shot before Ahare Mon, it will release in the second week of July.
