“Fashion isn’t about how chubby or slim you are. Fashion is about celebrating yourself. It’s time to weave dreams with colourfully hued strings…” These opening lines aptly sum up the main essence of Aritra Mukherjee’s upcoming film ‘Fatafati’. Starring Ritabhari Chakraborty and Abir Chatterjee as the main leads, it’s a story of Phullora Bhaduri, a tailor from the suburbs with a gifted sense of designing. However, she is ridiculed almost all the time for being on the heavier side.

Can she become a fashion influencer despite the odds? That’s what forms the crux of this heartwarming film which also has Swastika Dutta, Soma Chakraborty, Raktim Samanta, Debosree Ganguly, Sanghasree Sinha, Asmee Ghosh and Loknath Dey in key roles.

After winning hearts with the soul-stirring music the official trailer of ‘Fatafati’ is already here and it promises to deliver an emotional roller coaster ride for the audience. What happens when Phullora’s passion collides with her everyday societal struggle? Like Ritabhari’s previous film ‘Brahman Janen Gopon Kommoti’ with Aritra Mukherjee, this one also comes with a social message of body positivity and self-love. To fit seamlessly in her character, she even gained 25 kilos and maintained her weight throughout the shoot. The actor also faced all the challenges with a smile and we love the dedication the actress has towards her craft. After the final shot, she hopped back to get into shape.

Directed by Aritra Mukherjee the film’s story and screenplay are by Zinia Sen, dialogues by Samragnee Bandyopadhyay, cinematography is by Aalok Maiti, while editing is by Subhajit Singha. Music is by Anindya Chattopadhyay, Amit Chatterjee and Chamok Hasan while background score is by Amit Chatterjee. Art director is Ranojit Gharai and costume design by Abhisek Roy.

'Fatafati' is set to release in theatres on May 12.
