Akkineni and actress Amala Akkineni in Hyderabad. It was followed by the premiere of Urojahaj directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta and Manab Manabi by Subrata Sen. The organisers also felicitated Nagarjuna and Amala during the inaugural ceremony of the festival for their achievements and contributions to the world of art, culture and cinema. Amala beautifully mentioned the importance of cinema in today’s life. She also said that a film festival is much more required than a religious festival as it connects people culturally. , the Best Actor (Female) was picked up jointly by Raima Sen (Tarikh) and Basabdatta Chatterjee (Takhan Kuasha Chhilo). The other award winners were Subhankar Bhar for Best Cinematography (Kedara), Churni Ganguly for Best Screenplay (Tarikh), Anirban Sengupta for the Special Mention (Sound Design) in Kedara, Subhajit Singha for Best Editing (Tarikh) and Indradip Dasgupta for Best Director (Kedara). Kedara was adjudged the Best Film, while the Viewers' Choice Most Popular Film was given to Kaushik Ganguly’s Nagarkirtan.
