Koel Mallick and
Anjan Dutt are off to Italy to shoot for
Parambrata Chatterjee’s Bonny — a film based on a novel by
Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay
. The film revolves around an Indian Bengali couple, settled in Milan, who discover signs in their newborn son that might grow to become special powers. Then there’s an America-born Bangladeshi scientist, who flees America after being framed by the government with suspected links to terrorism. He heads to Italy, looking for the couple and their newborn, as he believes that’s where his search for answers will begin. On the other hand, a middle-class Bengali clerk, dabbling with amateurish engineering experiments in his pastime, buys a piece of junk, a dysfunctional robot from the grey market, and strange occurrences start happening at his Kolkata household.
These three threads come together to make one story that deals, on one hand, with the basic crisis of a set of parents trying to safeguard the life of their child, and on the other, with the danger the future might hold for them. Bonny is set to be a gripping thriller with a human heart at the core.
Apart from Koel and Anjan Dutt, the film also stars Parambrata, Kanchan Mullick and others. The film’s music has been composed by
Anupam Roy, while Nabarun Bose has scored the background music. This is also Koel’s fourth film with Parambrata as a co-actor. The film went on the floors from June 17 in Kolkata, and now, it has begun its schedule in Italy.
