Team ‘Bibaho Obhijaan’ explains why you shouldn’t miss the comedy caper

Birsa Dasgupta’s rural comedy caper ‘Bibaho Obhijaan’, which releases on June 21, is all about the post-marital problems. No matter it is an arranged or love, every marriage has its own side effects and this film will represent those side effects in a comic way. Ahead of the release, ETimes caught up with team ‘Bibaho Obhijaan’ for an exclusive fun-filled chat to figure out what to expect from the film and why people will watch it. Here are the excerpts:

Birsa Dasgupta

I always try to make different kinds of films. Bibaho Obhijaan is a total entertainer with no hidden meaning. Every couple has their share of fights, misunderstandings and obhimaan. But at the end of the day, it is love that binds them together. When Rudra (Rudranil Ghosh) narrated the plot, I felt this was one of the stories that didn’t have class or mass, urban or rural divisions. So, the audience would be able to relate to it.

3/7

Rudranil Ghosh

It is a comic caper. The story revolves around two friends — Anupam (played by Ankush) and Rajat (played by you) — who share a strong camaraderie. While Anupam is a shy gentleman, who marries the rebellious Rai (Nusraat Faria), Rajat happens to be an outspoken guy, a debate champion, who decides for an arranged marriage with Maya (Sohini Sarkar). Maya is a simple woman, whose life revolves around TV serials. Bibaho Obhijaan is about marital adventures of these two couples. It’s a laugh riot — a playful tribute to the classic Tom & Jerry bonding between husbands and wives!

4/7

Ankush

I play a very henpecked husband in this movie, for the first time. It’s a comic caper with very funny lines that will keep you entertained till the end. I am doing something so funny like this after ‘Jamai 420’, which was a huge hit, and this will be my second movie with Nusrat (Nusrat Faria), after ‘Ashiqui’. I hope the audience has a great time watching the movie — it’s a stress-reliever for sure.

5/7

Nusraat Faria

I had so much fun playing the character of Rai. However, I am exactly the opposite in real life. I don’t protest on everything like Rai in my real life. Still, it was great to play such a rebel character. ‘bibaho Obhijaan’ is for both the mass and class. It’s commercial, at the same time content-driven. It’s a hilariously entertaining film. I am eagerly waiting for the film to release. It was great to work with all of them. I had a great time. I believe people will love the story.

Priyanka Sarkar

I have never played the character of a village girl who rides a bicycle and is good at using a catapult. Portraying such a character is itself challenging and when I’m doing it opposite an intense actor like Anirban Bhattacharya it becomes even more difficult. The best part of the shoot was the lunch breaks. Every day, there’s something special on the menu and the entire cast and crew sit together to have the lunch. So you can imagine if the shooting the film was that much fun then what the final outcome would be.

7/7

Sohini Sarkar

I have never done a character like this before. Frankly speaking, I haven’t done too many comedy films. Although, ‘Bibaho Diaries’ was a black comedy. But in ‘Bibaho Obhijaan’ the comedy is slightly over the top. See, in real life every couple goes through life in their own way. They have their own understanding. Friendship is really important in every relationship. I would request everyone to see this film. It’s a pure entertainer.
